Chapter Philanthropy

Philanthropy 1-2-3

As individuals with time, talents and treasures, Kappas first support our sisters; second, we participate in local service projects; and third, we serve the greater good.

Our chapter women support elementary schools, Relay for Life, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Habitat for Humanity to name a few. Chapter fundraising events support causes such as the American Cancer Society, breast cancer/Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, tsunami relief, and multiple sclerosis research.

Every year, our chapter hosts Beautiful Lengths, where we gather volunteers to donate their hair to women who are battling breast cancer. One in three women will be diagnosed with cancer in her lifetime and nearly 60% of women regard hair loss as the single worst side effect of cancer treatment. We are a part of the million inch chain to help women with cancer! On April 15th, 2015, we had professional barbers from the local Merced community come to the UC campus and we collected over 27 ponytails!

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), our official philanthropic partner, has been supported through the donation of thousands of books and volunteer hours to Boys and Girls Clubs, elementary schools and hospitals.

Our chapters also have supported the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation with financial gifts and Rose McGill magazine subscription sales to help funds and training, and support of our two museums.
