Chapter News

Eta Xi started the exciting Fall 2014 semester with welcoming week tabling on August 28th and on September 5th, we hosted a welcome week event for anyone interested in Greek life. It was named Kappa Kooldown, an event to help those who wanted to get away from the hot, summer sun.

On September 11th, we collaborated with the Veteran Club on campus to which we sold ice cream in our event called "Scoops for Troops, to raise funds all donated to the Wounded Warriors project. The VP of Academic Excellence hosted our Academic Excellence Banquet at Toni's Courtyard Cafe on September 13th to celebrate the hard work of ladies with a semester GPA of 3.0. On September 19th, our athletic sister participated in Sigma Chi's volleyball tournament. On September 20th, we had a chapter retreat to Santa Cruz. Despite the accident that happened on our way there, we were able to handle it efficiently and minimized any other further damages.

We welcomed our Leadership Consultant, Lauren, to our chapter during the week of October 5th to help us improve our chapter in a variety of different ways. October 6th also marked the beginning of Kappa Sigma's Most Wanted Week and our chapter participated in the week long event that helped raised funds towards Kappa Sigma's philanthropy. Our Education Chairman, Jasmin, held our fabulous Founder's Day at Vista Ranch and Cellar on October 11th. On October 17th, we had our very first Kappa Kup, a human foosball tournament to raise money and raise awareness to our own philanthropy, Reading Is Fundamental. 

On October 24th, we had an exciting mixer with Omega Delta Phi and also collaborated with Kappa Sigma at the Carnival of Pink to help raise awareness for breast cancer. We competed in Delta Delta Delta's powderpuff competition event and on October 25th, we had our annual trip to the pumpkin patch held by our Event's Chairman, Katrina. 

On October 27th, we joined the Fraternity and Sorority Council for the Sisterhood Soiree for women interested in Greek life. Our very own Nomination Committee presented the slates of new officers for the upcoming year to the chapter on November 2nd. Our chapter and Omega Delta Phi teamed up and participated in Greek Week, which was organized by FSC, to promote Greek unity the week of November 3rd. We held our very first Kappa Kookoff Chili contest to raise money towards our sisters and their families affected by the accident. We voted and finalized the positions of officers at our formal chapter meeting on the 16th of November. On the 21st of November, we had our amazing Thanksgiving mixer with Sigma Alpha Epsilon. On December 1st, we finished officer installation at our last formal chapter of the semester. On November 5th, the Standards committee held the first Destress Sisterhood Event before a stressful finals week. This event brought us all closer as a chapter and strengthened the bond of our sisterhood. We ended our awesome semester with a budget presentation during our last chapter on December 7th.
